The Future's Bright...
Written by Xander

The future might be bright, but Orange are sh*te! I wanted a PAC code for my mobile (so I could transfer the number from one provider to another) so I called Orange and requested it - the Orange person on the phone said that's fair enough, asked why I wanted one, tried to keep me from requesting it by offering me a bunch of deals - anyway I didn't want them, Tesco are currently offering a good deal for PAYG customers (and also my good lady wife's on Tesco too). Anyway, the Orange person told me it had to be posted and would take a couple of days to get to me, she also mentioned most requested PAC codes are never used. The call ended at that and I waited for the code (and waited and waited!). After a week I called Orange again, a bit more irate this time and asked about a PAC code, explained I'd requested it previously and asked where it was - this time I was told I would receive it by text within 10 minutes! 10 minutes later and I had it. So at that point, I put the Tesco SIM in my phone, called their customer service, gave them the PAC code and was told when to expect my number to be changed to Tesco - it happened without problem exactly when they told me it would! So kudos to Tesco Mobile I guess.

Word Press...Editing a theme
Written by Xander
Friday, 10 October 2008

Looking for a WYSIWYG theme editor for wordpress? Try http://www.yvoschaap.com/wpthemegen/ it's an online theme editor, no idea how good it is but it looks like the only option available unless you have Dreamweaver.
I created my own theme for my Xubuntu site, started at the site above and generated the bare bones, then made some of my own changes, personally I think it's pretty neat, take a look and feel free to download if you wish, it's here - xanders-ubuntu.co.cc

I can see for miles and miles...
Written by Xander
Friday, 12 September 2008

Ok, so that's a bit of a stretch of the imagination, if you think I can make out what I can see that's miles away! Cos if you look at it scrictly, we can see for more than a few miles - ever seen a star? How far away are they? Anyway, the reason I started this post and the crappy "I can see.." discussion is all due to the fact my daughter stood on my glasses the other weekend and broke them (I can't blame her for leaving them on the kitchen floor though! Haven't a clue how they ended up there but I must've left them there myself!) Anyway, to make a long story a bit shorter I got a funky new pair (well, they're definitely new!) from www.wantglasses.co.uk. They're a great site, based in the UK and selling complete specs for only £25, they delivered really quickly and I got what I asked for! I reckon I got a great deal on them, compared to "high street" opticians, where on the high street could I get a decent looking pair of goggles,My new glasses including a hard case and delivered to my door for only £25 (use "offer1"as a promotion code and you'll get 10%off - it covers P+P or just about)
